The Government of Pakistan has announced a new Petrol Relief Scheme to reduce the financial pressure caused by rising fuel prices. In the new relief package, those people who have motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi and other two and three wheelers will be eligible for Rs. 100 per liter relief on a monthly quota basis.

Owners of small cars with engines of up to 800cc are also included in the scheme and can receive the same Rs. 100 per litre relief on a larger monthly quota.

Who Is Eligible for Rs. 100 Subsidy on Petrol?

The latest subsidy scheme is aimed at individuals using smaller vehicles for their transportation needs.

Eligible vehicle categories are:

Owners/Operators of motorcycles
Owners/Operators of rickshaws
Qingqi users
Other eligible two-wheelers

How Much Petrol Relief Will You Receive?

This would depend upon the category of your vehicle.

For Motorcycles

Consumers of motorcycles would be able to avail of Rs. 100 per litre relief on a maximum of 20 litres of petrol in a month.

In case of usage of total monthly quota:

20 × Rs. 100 = Rs. 2,000 monthly relief

For Rickshaws and Qingqi

Eligible rickshaw operators and Qingqi users are also included in 20 litre monthly quota.

Thus the maximum monthly relief could be Rs. 2,000.

For Cars Up to 800cc

Small-car owners with vehicles of up to 800cc can receive Rs. 100 per litre relief on up to 30 litres per month.

This means the maximum monthly benefit can reach:

30 × Rs. 100 = Rs. 3,000

Suppose the petrol price is Rs. 375.82 per litre.

With Rs. 100 relief, the eligible quota would effectively cost:

Rs. 375.82 − Rs. 100 = Rs. 275.82 per litre

Prime Minister Petrol Scheme Registration

The government has said that the registration process for the scheme has commenced. It has also been informed that details regarding the registration process will be made known by way of a public awareness campaign.

Information about the registration process will be provided by the provincial governments through sharing information about registered vehicles with the federal government in order to make implementation of the relief mechanism possible.

When Would Petrol Relief Begin?

The implementation of the scheme will take place in phases.

As per the latest announcement:

Islamabad: Relief starts from the midnight between September 14 and September 15.
Rest of Pakistan: Nationwide implementation starts from the midnight between September 16 and September 17.
